Sacred Ground

“Sacred Ground” by Alton R. Lowe
San Salvador, The Bahamas

I have been asked by friends and clients a number of times over the last few years to show some of the paintings which I created in the past. As many people are aware, I have concentrated over the years largely on Bahamian subjects. Over the next few months I intend to show some of the early as well as later paintings in order for a wider audience to enjoy. I hope that my friends will find it interesting and pleasurable seeing these paintings.

About "Sacred Ground": The majority of Bahamians, from the earliest days, have been deeply religious. Even the smallest settlement has its church. When times have been difficult, people have turned to God for hope and support. I tried to capture this as a symbol of the deep reliance which many of us place in the Almighty. - Alton
